The Job 

• Responsible for the conception, design, implementation, and interpretation of scientific and technical data for the selection/evaluation of drug product and process development
• Provide leadership and oversee operations of the Product and Process Development Team
• Lead projects for pharmaceutical development and product improvement projects for therapeutic protein drug
• Oversee the activities of Pharmaceutical Formulation Development (i.e., design and execute experiments in support of product / process / formulation development of biologic drug - including but not limited to API and formulation design and optimization as well as physio-chemical and biological characterization of API and drug product)
• Lead the research teams on manufacturing process optimization for product quality enhancement and QC testing method development and verification based on international guidelines
• Lead Process development studies including – determination and characterization of product and process parameters associated with biopharmaceutical manufacturing operations; translate lab-scale data into viable manufacturing process parameters and scale up to manufacturing process at commercial site 
• Lead and perform technology transfers to both internal and external partners, and will support Process Validation activities as required
• Actively communicates, collaborates with and contributes to other functional areas and drives to achieve the best development and business results of the company
• Manage collaborative projects with research and academic partners / institutions
• Prepare relevant documentation for submission of IND application
• Develop and oversee budgets, policies and procedures for Product and Process Development Team
• Manage performance of all staff and ensure them to meet company standards, and set team and individual employee goals and provide routine evaluations of progress toward the goals
• Travelling to PRC and overseas may be required

The Person

• Advanced degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or relevant discipline with minimum of 10+ years of R&D experience in protein field; PhD is preferred
• Preferred 5+ years of relevant pharmaceutical or biotech industry experience in product and process development in API and/or Drug Product development and manufacturing (pharmaceutical company, or CMO)
• Minimum of 5+ years of management and team leadership experience
• Strategic view and leadership abilities as well as hands on problem solving skills
• Advance knowledge and experience in broad range of protein and molecular biological, microbiological techniques, including but not limited to PCR, RT-PCR, electrophoresis, Western Blot, ELISA, HPLC, mass spectrometry (ESI-MS/MS and MALDI-TOF MS/MS) and other protein characterization methods
• Knowledge of Pharmacopeia, ICH and international regulatory guideline for drug submission
• Excellent time management, analytical and organizational skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to interact effectively and work efficiently with people at all levels in the company
• Strong communication skills (verbal, written and presentation skills)
