Job Description

Summary Statement

Reporting to the Senior Regional Manager, Product Marketing and Market Development, the Senior Demand Planner is responsible for the effectiveness and accuracy of the global product planning hierarchy for business planning of Asia Business Unit. With minimal supervision, the incumbent works independently with Sales, Product Marketing and Supply Planning teams to compile and maintain up-to-date product demand forecast in alignment with the sales, marketing and new product strategies in the demand review process.  

As the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the APO forecasting and reporting systems, the Senior Demand Planner not only prepares status reports with thorough analysis, but also assists in determining the most effective customer supply strategy through the regional warehouse; manages to fulfill the scheduled sales-order demand with sales team and works with the Supply Planner on production activities alignment.

Responsibilities     

  • Works independently with channel partners in Asia to analyze the regional product demand and to facilitate a smooth supply through the regional warehous
  • Identifies changes and risks to the Sales and Operations Plan by maintaining up-to-date understanding of promotional, new customer, and sales channels in coordination with the Product Marketing Managers and the Supply Planner
  • Serves as the primary BU liaison with the Supply Planning team. Proactively communicates the updates from the Plant including delivery information, backorders, capacity constraints and product allocation conditions etc.
  • Highlights changes in the monthly forecasting, reports issues and makes recommendations in relation of performance metrics such as regional forecast figures, actual sales vs. plan trends, unplanned demand impacts, supply performance vs. demand, market dynamics and macro-economic trends in Asia Pacific region etc.
  • Coordinates forecasts of all new product introductions and discontinuation of products
  • Fully understands and demonstrates the best practices for demand planning and inventory analysis
  • Performs process analysis and other duties as assigned

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Degree holder or above in Marketing, Operations Management, Statistics or other relevant discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of working experience in sales forecasting or demand planning; preferably in a consumer goods/FMCG environment. Experience in inventory management is a definite advantage
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision to meet scheduled deadlines
  • Strong numerical, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Well organized, self-motivated and team player
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, A MUST
  • Proficiency in Mandarin, Cantonese or other Asian languages is preferred
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel spreadsheet. Previous work experience with SAP APO/DP/BW is highly desirable
