Career Development

As part of the Operations team focusing on Terminal Development, you will be involved in a variety of global projects to support our terminals over the world in developing new or existing facilities, and monitoring the operations efficiency of these terminals. The role will give you exposure to terminal design and operations through projects such as layout design, capacity assessment, industry research and operations assessment.

Job Exposure

Through a series of on-job training and orientation, you will acquire the fundamental understanding of the terminal business, Hutchison Ports, and the functions of Terminal Development.  You will participate in terminal designs, operations efficiency monitoring, benchmarking and analysis.  Your key responsibilities include:

• Apply operations research knowledge in optimizing operational efficiency
• Carry out terminal layout design, process and traffic analysis
• Collect operations and consumptions data from different terminals
• Analyze and monitor consumptions efficiency on manpower, consumables, power and fuel of different terminals
• Study and share the best resource control practices with all the terminals
• Plan and coordinate project tasks with different parties on terminal  development projects or operations improvement initiatives

Desired Skills and Qualities

• Degree holder in Industrial / Logistics Engineering, Operations Research, Statistics or related disciplines
• 3 – 5 years relevant experience
• Solid skills in Microsoft Office especially Excel
• Experience in container terminal operations would be an advantage
• Knowledge in AutoCAD, SQL and Oracle Database would be an advantage
• Ability to analyze issues and situations systematically
• Strong command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua)
• High self-motivation with outstanding analytical, presentation and communication skills
• Occasionally business travel will be required
• Candidates with more experiences will be considered as Senior Terminal Development Analyst
