Data Center engineer

Roles & Responsibilities

• Installing/de-installing/relocating all distributed systems and network hardware (CSUs, DSUs, routers, switches, encryptors, firewalls, etc.) in the Data Centers within the internal service level mandates.
• Installing/extending/relocating/testing all carrier circuits to the network hardware.
• Installing/de-installing/relocating all patch cabling for systems and network hardware.
• Installing/de-installing/relocating all Data Center hardware.
• Assist with the coordination of cabinet power, circuit, and patch infrastructure installations w/various facilities, electrical, and communications vendors.
• Assist w/the coordination of network component configurations.
• Coordinate and Install SAN cabling infrastructure.
• Managing network ports and assist with all consumable capacities. (cables, labels, tie wraps, rail kits, etc.).
• Maintaining the integrity of the data center facilities, systems, and communications environments through general housekeeping practices and best operations practices.
• Provide hands-on, break/fix level 2 support for the data center systems and communications environments.
• Coordinating, and approving data center infrastructure change controls.
• Ensuring compliance with data center standards, policies, and processes for all non-DCSD sponsored changes.
• Performing required compliance activities.
• Producing network consumables updates and contributing to weekly management reports.
• Coordinate activities in support of all projects and technical requests within the Data Center.
• Provide clear and detailed turnover to next shift workers for continuity.
• Review and approve hardware Move/Add/Change workflows using Aperture tool (which will be replaced with DCIM).
