My client is a reputable FMCG company with manufacturing plants in Hong Kong and other countries in Asia.

The Head of R&D position will be responsible for developing and innovating new products in addition to optimizing existing food items. This role provides industry leading product innovation for all channels, both retail and wholesale. Furthermore, he/she will be involved in marketing strategy, calendar and product pipeline. This is a product expert position, both in bench top development and manufacturing commercialization.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide Leadership to the R&D initiatives for the company’s products
• Manage relationships with manufacturers and suppliers to commercialize and optimize products.
• Works closely with Sales and external customers and suppliers to develop innovative solutions and resolve technical problems.
• Execute and manage sensory process as needed for product development and optimization.
• Recipe creation and ownership for products at all brands.
• Existing product specifications approval and ownership.
• Act as a formula gatekeeper and develop cost of goods for the new and existing products.
• Execute and manage taste panels as needed.
• Project development and budget decisions.
• Be an expert in industry methods and standards, in the potential applications of company products and maintain a natural interest in remaining updated and at the forefront of food science and market trends
• As a leader of R&D department, the role will be accountable to increase resource capabilities, upgrade skills and introduce “best in class” practices in order to create a R&D Centre Of Excellence

Job Requirements

• At least 15 relevant years’ experience in R&D of food industry
• Bachelors Degree Minimum within Food Technology
• Strong experience in Oil, Flour or Ingredients
• Held a leading role in R&D teams of well reputed FMCG companies
• Business understanding and familiarity with commercial and financial business priorities
• Natural leadership ability, able to drive excellence through a team, excellent communication and presentation skills in English
• Proven track record of having successfully launched new product launches through to commercial launch
