Job Description
Young Master Brewery is seeking a packager with a strong work ethic and an intuitive attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be able to start up, sanitize, operate, and shutdown any filler line. This position reports to the Lead Brewer.
Primary responsibilities would involve managing the packaging run from start to finish, as well as quality control and efficiency throughout the run. Any experience in food production, brewing or homebrewing is valuable but not a must. Also, any candidate with mechanical aptitude or experience with troubleshooting will be preferred.
Secondary responsibilities will include milling, wort production, cellar work, updating records, equipment maintenance, cleaning and any other relevant duties required by the brewery. This position offers the opportunity to grow into the lead role for packaging as well as exposure to all brewing operations.
Responsibilities - Essential Functions & Duties
o Maintains, repairs, and operates all aspects and functionality of the breweries packaging equipment.
o Perform daily clean-up and organization of the maintenance area, tools, and supplies.
o Analyse malfunctions in the packaging area and make continuous improvements when needed.
o Evaluate and adjust bottling procedures as necessary.
o Communicate clearly and effectively across all departments within the brewery.
o Work along brewing team to make the best beer possible.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
o High School Diploma or equivalent with a focus on sciences, mathematics or engineering
o Quality first mindset with regards to packaging and brewing.
o Self-motivated and a demonstrated willingness to learn.
o Strong mechanical aptitude for equipment repairs and trouble shooting.
o Any experience in brewing will be valuable.
o Works well independently and cooperatively with others.
o PLC trouble shooting and electrical knowledge preferred.
o Any practical knowledge of piping systems, electrical wiring, chillers and relevant brewery equipment will be valuable.
Physical Requirements
o Ability to lift 25kgs to shoulder height.
o Ability to lift and move kegs weighing 60kg.
o Climb stairs, ladders, sloop, bend, stand, and walk through workday
o Ability to work in hot, humid, wet, cold environments.
