THE AIM OF THE ROLE

To develop resource development strategies and implement a range of marketing and fund raising events and initiatives to ensure maximum income to the CHF, whilst promoting brand values.

The role of Resource Development Manager, Hong Kong is the head of marketing and fund raising department for the territory. S/he will play a significant part in meeting the aims of the charity. It will drive income, engagement and relationship management through events and initiatives throughout the year. The Resource Development Manager will report to the Chief Executive. Those with lesser experience of qualification could commence as Associate Resource Development Manager.

 

THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To foster close relationship with key donors, supporters and volunteers to drive fresh initiatives to deliver against income and other targets.
  • To strategically identify, develop and deliver a portfolio of fund raising events and initiatives for a range of valuable donors, supporters and partners.
  • To prepare funding proposals and pitch for sponsorship of gala dinners, art performances and  other events with CHF as a beneficiary.
  • To ensure consistent brand values that support all events and communications.
  • To achieve income targets and other measurements set.
  • To ensure compliance with all health, legal and safety aspects of event management.
  • To ensure that maximum benefit and opportunity are afforded to CHF.
  • To collaborate with other staff to ensure delivery targets are reported and met, highlighting delivery issues where appropriate.
  • To work closely with key supporters and capture their insights into our activities.
  • To develop events management skills of the team.

 

Key Outputs

  • To develop and deliver effective fund raising strategy across a range of events models, serving a range of donors, supporters and partners.
  • To ensure risk assessment and management across all aspects of the events process.
  • To comprehensively evaluate individual events to ensure learnings and improvement.
  • To grow a database of donors, supporters, volunteers and prospects and to seek their inputs in the development of our future strategy.
  • To deliver optimum messaging, communication and timing for the target donors, supporters and volunteers.
  • To develop and execute detailed integrated events delivery plans including reporting, budget, escalation mechanisms and process for ensuring key deliverables are met.
  • To develop new revenue opportunities.
  • To work with the Chief Executive to ensure consistency of brand values, effective communication and marketing, and to ensure appropriate relationship management with key sponsors and volunteers.
  • To manage each event’s budget and ROI, agency partners and suppliers.

 

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a seasoned individual who has a passion in charity work, a creative Resource Development Manager, with an extensive local network of both high net worth individuals (HNWIs) and heads of corporate social responsibility at major local companies.

First-handed and comprehensive fund raising and events management experience and a track-record in developing and managing events of scale are required. This will be demonstrated in your proven ability to retain and expand the donor and volunteer network and to deliver creative fund raising events within time, resource and budget constraints.

It is essential that you possess excellent relationship management and communications skills as these will be vital for the delivery and coordination of both large public-facing events and smaller projects.

 

Knowledge, Skills and experience

  • 8 years experience in local charity and/or business management positions with at least 3 in a senior position in developing community, HNWIs and corporate donor network.
  • Prior experience in wealth management, high end luxury goods or services, public relations, news and media etc. is an advantage but not a prerequisite.
  • Good team player with leadership, communication, presentation and language skills (Cantonese, English and Putonghua) in an environment of diversity.
  • Creative ability and experience to deliver innovative fund raising events within time, resource and budget constraints.
  • Project management experience and the ability to adjust plans in response to emerging issues or opportunities.
  • Experience in managing a resource development team across a range of events models and target donors, supporters and partners.
  • Experience of resource database growth to maximise insights and return.
  • Ability/Experience to identify solutions to problems and deal with and resolve conflict.
  • Ability/Experience to motivate and lead a broad group with conflicting priorities.
  • Strong discipline in managing and motivating volunteers through planning and delivery.
  • Flexible and adaptable to new ideas.
  • Computer skills (social media, e-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
