Job Description

OVERVIEW

 

Provides consistent, high-level operational support primarily for the Managing Director. Responsible for Business Development, client support, and other duties as required by knowing the “ins and outs” of the entire department, by performing the following duties:

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Offers assistance with production and project coordination of marketing initiatives undertaken in support of the Marketing Department's efforts;
  • Gathers relevant information and conducts research in support of new and ongoing Business Development/ Marketing initiatives;
  • Prepares copy and maintains accuracy of information on GIA's web site;
  • Plan and execute Business Development activities to increase the market share of the Company in China e.g. Conduct market intelligence and identify business opportunities;    
  • Attend and/or coordinates Trade show exhibitions and/ or GIA-hosted events in China;
  • Receives and tracks routine media and public inquires; assists as appropriate in formulating responses, includes but not limited to translation of Company’s materials;
  • Assists in ensuring collateral material is accurate and representative of Institute's core values;
  • Coordinate and/ or initiate Corporate Campaign/ Seminars to promote the Company;
  • Develop and maintain strong relationship with GIA’s Alumni relationsin China and support them in further GIA education if necessary;
  • Regularly interface with corporate clients via phone and email, field general questions, send company and enrollment materials, documents/paperwork, and follow-up on sales leads;
  • Manage communication with corporate clients in a timely, professional and clear manner.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required with 3-5 years of related experience and/or training.
  • Experience of business development of Jewelry industry in China regions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook software applications.
  • Proficient in writing for a variety of purposes including, but not limited to, catalog copy, direct mail, brochures, and web site.
  • Proven excellence in the ability to be organized, systematic, and work well under deadline pressure.
  • Strong and proven client service acumen.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and the general public. Supports media relations activities.
  • Detail-minded with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and make decisions
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Excellent presence; public speaking, teaching or presentation background and skills preferred.
  • Native in Mandarin and English medium preferred, English as a Second Language required.  Must be able to communicate in English (understand, read and write) and participate in training taught in English
  • Frequent travel to China is required
  • GIA education strongly preferred;
  • Candidates with more experience will be considered as Business Development Manager and candidates with less experience will be considered as Business Development Coordinator.
