Job Description

The Market Development Manager role for Synthetic Rubber in Asia Pacific reporting to Senior Commercial Director with a prime responsibility of improving business profitability through the analysis, improvement and optimization of product and market mix. Also supporting on key regional projects and working with cross function teams on the implementation.

 

Key Responsibilities and accountability:

 

  1. Analysis of APAC tire market (20%)
  • Define tire industry key growth drivers (labelling, CO2 emissions, governmental initiatives)
  • Segment key performance tires players based on their needs and market strategies (European/NAA OEMs, regional OEM’s, local Chinese, others)
  • Define target customers unmet needs and translate it to opportunity map to Trinseo
  • Understand Auto OEMs local needs and targets

     2.  Analysis of differentiated rubber to performance tires in APAC (20%)

  • Understand APAC supply demand dynamics for differentiated SSBR and NdBR
  • Develop competitive analysis based working with TS&D and commercial team
  • Understand exiting and next generation product development cycle in the region

      3.   Develop APAC market participation plan (20%)

  • Application of 4Ps, value chain analysis, value proposition, competitive market and need based segmentation
  • Identify opportunities of growth and value creation plan based on Trinseo technology platform
  • Monitor penetration and success at customers 

     4.  Lead a cross functional market management team (sales, TS&D, product mgt etc.) (20%)

  • Work on execution plan in line with market and business strategy
  • Support tire compounding and material development projects to meet Asia customers’ needs
  • Reflect voice of customer and industry dynamics (customers’ visits, conferences, etc. )

      5.  Support SSBR expansion project in Asia (20%)

  • Development of business plan 2020-2025
  • Coordinate with local project leadership and provide updates to BMT

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in science or engineering. MBA is an advantage
  • At least 10 years of experience in technical/application development, technical field marketing  preferably in tire or automotive industries
  • Effective communications skills at different levels within organization and in front of customers
  • Languages: fluent in English and Chinese (Mandarin)

  • Sound business and technical background comfortable in navigating and bridging in both
  • Tire and automotive industry savvy that can speak the lingo with customers and add value internally
  • Ability to operate on both strategic and operational level
  • Can do mentality and adaptive to change
  • Leadership skills and can lead cross functional and remote team
  • Interpersonal and emotional intelligence to build relationship and rapport with different stake holders 
  • Can work independently and start from a white paper
