Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and secure LIDL’s sustainability requirements are followed and implemented in the supply chain
  • Actively support the  management of  Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) project for Lidl HK, collect and analyse on wastewater & sludge reports, chemical inventory data and other relevant information from chemical suppliers 
  • Monitor chemical/ environmental audits and report on environmental issues according to internal environmental monitoring system.  Analyze the potential chemical/ water/ energy risks in LIDL HK’s supply chain. Collaborate with colleagues in Germany to share project status 
  • Co-ordinate with internal colleagues to build LIDL HK’s chemical library
  • Communicate and liaise with internal sourcing and other relevant departments and external stakeholders to to integrate sustainability requirements and successfully implement other sustainability projects
  • Create and conduct chemical management or other environmental management related training/ workshop to  production regions and factories/ mills
  • Keep abreast on new environmental laws and regulations, activities and initiatives and communicate critical issues immediately to the Sustainability Manager and liaise with the C&S Analyst for contributions to the C&S Monthly report
  • Identify good practice/activities/ program carried out (by suppliers, agents, stakeholders, other brands, internally) and evaluate the possibility of collaboration
  • Support the LIDL Sustainability Manager(s) if needed on other tasks

Requirements:

  • University degree: Environmental / chemical engineering/ environmental engineering/ environmental science/ environmental technology/ chemistry degree
  • 2-3 years of Professional work experience within: chemical/ water data analysis, environmental auditing data, environmental issues on government organizations focused on environmental issues, specially Water/waste water treatment knowledge & Effluent Treatment plants preferable
  • At least 3-5 years experience in the environmental industry with knowledge of manufacturing industry
  • Understanding of zero discharge of hazardous chemicals program
  • Self motivated, positive and able to communicate at all levels
  • Good team player
  • High degree of work ethics and integrity
  • Positive thinking and adaptability to change.
  • Independent, responsible and proactive work style as well as the ability to work in a team
  • Good PC knowledge (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Good command of written and spoken English, Mandarin and Cantonese and other languages is a plus
  • Travel required
