The Organization

Haven of Hope Christian Service (Haven of Hope) was founded on a barren upland by a group of foreign missionaries in 1950s. Formerly known as Junk Bay Medical Relief Council, Haven of Hope began by providing medical relief for refugees coming to Junk Bay (near Tseung Kwan O) from Mainland China.

The work of Haven of Hope quickly expanded in diversity and scale as it began to assist the community as a whole. In the past 60 years, Haven of Hope has undergone many changes. Today, our service scope covers 4 key areas: Elderly Services, Rehabilitation Services, Health Care Services and Evangelistic Work.

2) The Programme

Haven of Hope Christian Service (HOHCS) endeavors to provide exciting opportunities to talented university graduates who are keen to embark on growth and career development in one of the most progressive NGOs in Hong Kong.

First introduced in 2009, the two-year HOHCS Management Trainee programme has been designed to nurture trainees to build both competence and professionalism for meeting the challenges of future service developments of HOHCS.

The two-year programme provides trainees with the opportunity to gain all-round exposure and develop into future social service leaders in HOHCS. The trainees will work directly under the Chief Executive Officer Office to gain first-hand experience in the management of the organization, including strategic planning, project management, resources development, board and staff engagement, capacity building, and more. To help the trainee reach his/her full potential, the Chief Executive Officer will provide ample guidance and support throughout the program.

Requirements

Final year students or recent graduates from universities (Hong Kong and overseas) with the following attributes:

Aspiration - Interested in growth and career development in the social service sector

Alignment - Aligned with the vision, mission and core values of HOHCS; identified with Christian values and characters; keen to develop and maintain a corporate orientation

Ability - Good academic attainment; Bachelor degree in any discipline with first class honor preferred; excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese with credit or above in public examinations; good interpersonal, analytical and communication skills; able to exercise critical and independent thinking
