Job Description

- An advance degree in Anthropology, Archaeology or History, a PhD/DLitt qualification is preferred.

- A qualified personnel to apply for 'Licence to Excavate and Search for Antiquities" under the "The Antiquities and Monuments Ordinance" (Cap. 53). Past successful applicant of 'Licence to Excavate and Search for Antiquities" is preferred.

- Experienced in archaeological research, archaeological impact assessment, archaeological watching brief, archaeological rescue excavation, archaeological investigation, anthropological field survey, anthropological research.

- 20+ years of fieldwork experience is preferred.

- Familiar with historical/archaeological environment and materials of Hong Kong, Macau, and South China. Experienced in Hong Kong archaeological fieldwork is preferred.

- Agree with all the professional and ethical standards for archaeological works, such as the standards and guidelines of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage (PRC), Institute for Archaeologist (UK), English Heritage (UK), European Associations of Archaeologists (EU), and Society for American Archaeology (USA).

- Fluent in Cantonese or Mandarin, and English. 

- Junior position might be considered to less qualified applicants.

Hong Kong Archaeology Consultant Limited (HKACL) is an independent archaeology-cum-cultural resource management consultancy in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). HKACL was established in 2014. Having involved in a number of archaeological and built heritage services in Hong Kong. HKACL is fully conversant with the Government requirements and statutory procedures for undertaking feasibility studies for cultural heritage, planning, infrastructure development and environmental projects in Hong Kong. HKACL has a well-established in-house cultural heritage team comprising experience specialists for local history, archaeology and built heritage conservation and management. Cultural heritage conservation, planning and management, impact assessment, cultural heritage tourism planning and management are the company’s key practice areas. HKACL and its stuffs have extensive track record in undertaking cultural heritage-related studies including planning and development, conservation, monitoring and impact assessments for the Antiquities and Monuments Office (AMO) of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, other government departments and private clients. Selected relevant project experience includes Archaeological Watching Brief and Rescue Excavation in Ha Wun Yiu Village, and Built Heritage Survey in Pai Tau Village for Tolo Harbour Sewerage of Unsewered Areas Stage 2 – Phase 1 and Sewerage in Nam Wa Po and Wai Tau; Archaeological Watching Brief and Rescue Excavation, Archaeological Impact Assessment, and Built Heritage Survey on Lamma Island for Outlying Islands Sewerage Stage 2 – Lamma Village Sewerage Phase 2, Package 1 ; Archaeological Watching Brief at Kei Lun Wai and Fu Tei Ha Tsuen, and Archaeological Review at Lam Tei, Fuk Hang Tsuen (Upper) and Lo Fu Hang for Castle Peak Road Trunk Sewer and Tuen Mun Village Sewerage (DC/2014/01).
