Job Description

The job holder will collaborate with Elementary School Faculty, staff, and administration to bring media resources into the classroom to enhance students learning. The role supports the classroom teacher to extend their skills in sustainable professional growth efforts and engage students through technology integration.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Teaching-related responsibilities

  • Plan and co-teach lessons/units with faculty; and coaching faculty regarding their planning; work with the subject area departments to develop their short-term and long-term learning technology implementation plans.
  • Create exemplars of effective classroom integration. Develop the use of virtual learning environments to support classroom learning, promoting a 21st century culture of learning and digital citizenship skills.
  • Document technology integration, instructional strategies, and resources in curriculum, assist in the use of digital tools to communicate and increase productivity of organization. Focus on teachers’/students’ technology usage to enhance learning in Elementary School as necessary.

 

2. Training

  • Facilitate regularly-scheduled professional development workshops for Elementary School faculty to build core knowledge and skills, and coordinate with the Learning Technology leadership and Elementary School Principals for appropriate content focus and scheduling.
  • Train individuals, departments, small groups, etc. in use of relevant software applications.
  • Provide Elementary School parents education workshops and educate stakeholders in the community of learning technology components and 21st century learning principles.

 

3. Others

  • Assist and support the implementation of technology devices (Laptops, Tablets, and etc.) outlined in the School’s Technology Plan.
  • Assist in technology development of digital reference materials and eBook usage.
  • Assist in Schoology LMS training in collaboration with Learning Technology team, where appropriate.
  • Provide ad hoc assistance for PowerSchool support and training, as necessary.
  • Troubleshooting software problems with Elementary School faculty.

  

Qualification & Experience:

  • Master Degree in Education or Education Technology preferable.
  • Obtain any of the following certifications: Apple Distinguished Educator, Google Certified Teacher, Adobe Certified Instructor, Adobe Educational Leader or Microsoft Certified Educator would be an advantage.
  • Record of engagement with peers through conferences presentations, professional writing and personal learning network and communities of practice.
  • Evidence of continued relevant Professional Development.
  • At least 5 years of classroom teaching experience, preferably in inquiry based school and transdisciplinary curriculum.
  • Technology coaching experience will be an advantage.
  • An understanding of key learning theories and methods of instruction, and their relation to technology integration.
  • Understanding of adult learners and experience of facilitating adult learning such as leading teacher workshops and one-to-one coaching.
  • In-depth understanding of technology operations and concepts.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft, Google, Apple compatible software and ability to troubleshoot technology issues.
  • Experience in implementing initiatives such as learning networks (LMS, Blogs), digital citizenship, flipped classroom, authentic assessment, challenge-based learning, game-based learning, robotics and programming.
  • Experience of working in a 1:1 classrooms and handheld learning environments.

  • An attitude of open-mindedness, integrity, and professional behavior.
  • Ability to manage short-term and long-term projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a complex workload, prioritize tasks, and use appropriate judgement in providing services based on goals.
  • Maturity of judgment under pressure; ability to resolve/mediate problems in a timely and effective manner.
