Job Description

Work Location: Cyberport/Guangzhou

In this role, you are responsible to provide long-term strategic planning of the provision and maintenance of company vehicles and ground support equipment with the objective to ensure that vehicles and ground support equipment meet both corporate and regulatory conditions for appearance and operating conditions, while ensuring that the fleet needs are satisfied on a timely basis in a cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities:

Strategic

  • Identify, plan and direct strategic and tactical business projects with the aim to improve and innovate our asset portfolio, including introduction of new models as well as enhancement of existing models, from proof of concept to final implementation and measure of success.
  • Select, train, develop, motivate and monitor performance of direct reports, and develop a succession plan in order to achieve functional and departmental objectives within People-Service-Profit guidelines.
  • Lead and determine strategy for addressing major component and equipment failure; direct preventive maintenance and repair actions in order to address repair issues quickly; minimize breakdowns and preventable injuries, as well as decrease costs in the long-run.
  • Create a compelling vision for the workgroup, ensuring understanding and buy-in of the workgroup’s mission, goals and objectives

Tactical

  • Review vendor performance, services and supplies; evaluate effectiveness of commercial garage services and implement improvement; approve vehicle and ground support equipment maintenance and parts vendors in order to ensure that vendor service can meet Company’s goals and objectives.
  • Evaluate ground support in the field and Hub locations; direct long-term activities regarding ground support equipment management, as needed, prior to being returned to service; assign special service projects including development of proposals and financial justification; review submitted project alternatives and cost/benefit analysis and implement appropriate actions in order to ensure efficient operation of the fleet in a cost effective way.
  • Perform tests on vehicles, equipment, components and fuels; inspect fleet mechanical, paint and body condition; develop the necessary contacts and interface with government, regulatory and internal requirements, and that the fleet is maintained in a safe, dependable and cost effective manner.
  • Review feasibility and establish new maintenance programs at new FedEx locations across APAC; ensure resolution and communicate related activities to field maintenance and user groups in order to support Company’s volume and objectives.
  • Incorporate review of maintenance effectiveness, cost and reliability and plan future strategy to address current and potential issues; review recommendations made by managers and direct actions to positively impact the performance on financial and operating plans; lead the development of effective solutions to problems in order to ensure effective maintenance and cost against Company’s goals and objectives.
  • Prepare and submit an annual budget for area of responsibility to senior management; and control, monitor and report results on a regular basis in order to achieve budget targets and manage expenses effectively.
  • Align objectives of workgroup with organization and Corporate goals, including alignment with global vehicle team in US and all relevant Planning and Operations teams in APAC.

Requirements:

  •  Bachelor's Degree in mechanical or automobile engineering or related discipline.
  •  8 years broad based business experience, preferably related to the fleet management and/or Asian transportation business.
  • 3-5 years management experience
  • Technical knowledge of trouble-shooting and diagnosing automotive and other equipment problems is preferred
  •  Fluent in verbal and written English
