We are now looking for a Materials Engineer, Supply Chain of Isola Group in Asia. This position involves communicating and working directly with glass and copper suppliers, the supply chain management group, R&D, Scale-Up Engineering (R&D Operations), the analytical labs (JSL), and TPM team. Focus will be to evaluate current and alternative raw material suppliers to reduce overall cost and advance the technology of Isola’s materials, while maintaining the quality of Isola’s products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Occasional international travel may be required
• Knowledge of the use chemical analysis and thermal analysis tools
• In-depth understanding of either electronic glass and/or copper
• Be able to review raw material specifications and work with suppliers to achieve the best specifications for our materials.
• Ensure that end product and end user requirements are incorporated into evaluation programs
• Provide periodic updates to the supply chain management and ELT

STRATEGIC FOCUS:

• Communicate directly with the supply base to provide detailed material qualification data
• Improved processability within the current supplier base and material set
• Tactical communication with supply chain and R&D on testing results and analysis
• Communication with supply base on testing results, analysis and improvement potential

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor of Science (BS) in Chemistry or a Bachelors in Chemical Engineering
• 4-5 years of direct experience in the electronic glass and/or copper for CCL/PCB manufacturing
• Strong laboratory practices and documentation skills.
• Computer literacy and familiarity with the Microsoft tools such as Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
• Strong communication skills
• Self-starter, able to work with little to no supervision.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

• Able to read and interpret patents and technical articles in English.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

• Understand College Algebra and first semester Calculus.
• Able to create macro formulas on Excel.

REASONING ABILITY:

• Ability to apply the scientific deductive reasoning to problem solving

ADDITIONAL COMPETENCIES THAT ARE REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB:

• Ability to work in a fast-pace environment and multi-task
• Ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Ability to work effectively with people cross-functionally at all levels within the organization
• Must be familiar with the Company Safety Manual or Industrial Hygiene Manual and perform work in the safest way possible

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Will be office or lab work
• Requirement to travel to suppliers
