Linux Systems Architect

Description:

The Linux Systems Architect is responsible for researching new technologies to meet current and growing needs. This role works to do project planning to help implement new products and to do major upgrades of existing products before handing them over to operations team.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate new technologies or new versions of existing technologies related to Linux,
• Open Source, Cloud, Automation, Orchestration, Middleware, Virtualization.
• Do "Proof of of Concept"; implementations to test new technologies or products that look promising and meet the standards, technical vision and the needs of the company.
• Perform project planning on system implementation and upgrades.
• Documenting existing architecture and keeping it up to date as changes are made.
• Help with the documentation and maintenance of standards documents for the responsible technologies
• Help with automation of tasks so that the Operations team can do things in a repeatable and automated manner.
• Troubleshoot production issues and provide timely support if asked.
• Complete projects or assigned tasks in accordance with defined project management methodology.
• Provide regular system monitoring and status updates to management.
• Participate, where necessary in requirements gathering/elicitation, design and/or testing phases

Requirements:

• A Technology Enthusiast
• Deep knowledge of Linux operating system technologies.
• 5+ years’ experience in both design and operations of Linux systems.
• Experience with Web Technologies and Cloud Systems.
• Experience in automation technologies and orchestration technologies.
• Knowledge of:
• Elastic Stacks
• Hadoop
• Memcached/Redis
• Cassandra/MongoDB
• HA Proxy/Nginx
• NodeJS
• Experience with one or more scripting languages:
• Bash
• Python
• Perl
• Javascript
• Excellent analytical, technical, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven track record for thinking beyond current-state technology issues and also integrating technologies for complete solutions across the enterprise infrastructure.
• Ability to provide objective and impartial technology, platform, tooling assessments and recommendations, ensures compatibility with strategic technology backlog at all times.
• Passionate about technology, and has interest in emerging tools, trends and techniques across the industry.
• Appreciation of risk management, change management, and configuration management.
