The job:

You will be responsible for day-to-day underwriting and product development of the International Personal Lines (IPL) portfolio.  In this role you will contribute to the overall growth and profitability of the IPL department as it expands its business through multiple distribution channels.

As a Senior Underwriter, you will:

• Be responsible for underwriting tasks to achieve targeted goals within IPL portfolio which includes Residential (Home Insurances) and Specialty Personal Lines (Mobile Phone, Gadget and Card Insurances)
• Review risk submissions within assigned authority limits.  Secure additional information where necessary and analyze all pertinent data to determine acceptability of risks according to established underwriting standards.
• Review endorsements on existing policies to identify any change in original coverage or amounts
• Evaluate, accept, reject or modify risks within established underwriting guidelines
• Assist in preparing submissions for higher underwriting review
• Coordinate with the support team to ensure valid and timely response on quotations and production of policies, endorsements, certificates, renewal notices, and other administrative requirements
• Maintain close rapport and relationship with multiple distribution channels (agents, brokers, direct group, sponsor and bancassurance partners) to obtain necessary underwriting information, promote satisfactory service relationship and to encourage the submission of targeted business
• Responsible for IPL management reports and provide market and underwriting data analysis
• Perform special projects and other related duties to enhance sales capabilities

This job might be for you if you have:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Demonstrated Personal Lines underwriting ability and technical competence as evidenced by a minimum of 5 years’ professional experience at underwriting level or equivalent industry experience
• Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to evaluate and judge underwriting risks within designated authority
• Experience in Product Development and Implementation
• Experience in constructing portfolio analysis (P&L’s, trend mapping, performance reviews), evaluating the results and providing recommended actions/feedback.  Solid experience of dealing with multiple distribution channels (agents, brokers, direct group, sponsor and bancassuarance partners)
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with external partners (i.e. sponsor and bancassurance partners) and internal stakeholders (Chubb personnel locally and regionally)
• Good understanding and working knowledge of the Hong Kong insurance market
