Responsibilities:

• To lead and manage a team of technologists to deliver all technical aspects of product development and supplier management, in line with the quality management system, brand standard and technical requirements.
• Assist Technical Manager to develop & implement QA/QC strategies.
• Manages safety, legality and quality of Sainsbury’s brand products, ensuring brand reputation and due diligence is maintained through effective detailed site visits / audits, based on risk assessment and regular review meetings.
• Ensures team can deliver on time shipment with no quality incidents at destination.
• Provide leadership, train and develop team members to secure core competencies.
• Maintain effective working relationship with related internal and external stakeholders in Asia and UK.
• Manage root cause analysis and corrective action process of supplier quality issues.
• Ensures delivery of the Sustainability plan and category plans in the product area. Sets and communicates clear sustainability targets to all suppliers.
• Build technical excellence with respect to product knowledge, industry know-how and ensuring continuous professional development.

Requirements:

• Tertiary qualification with relevant experience in Footwear.
• At least 10 years relevant experiences in the technical area i.e. quality assurance or manufacturing.
• Previous exposure to technical standard and regulatory requirement in Footwear is highly preferred.
• 1-3 years management experience in leading and supervising a team of technologists.
• Knowledge of quality systems, factory audits, ethical audits, testing requirements and manufacturing processes is desirable.
• Knowledge of UK legislation and requirements.
• People management, leadership and communication skills. Ability to coach and develop team members.
• Attention to details, problem solving and analytical skills.
• Team player with effective communication and negotiation skills.
• Experience with manufacturing practices in Asia with proven technical skills within the product area.
• Proficient in written and spoken English, and Mandarin.
• The role will require travel within Asia.
