The incumbent provides general legal services to WBA Asia sourcing operations including commercial contracts with external parties (i.e. vendors, service providers and agents, intra-group contracts; intellectual property; anti-bribery, product compliance, as well as general HR, property, disputes and other legal matters faced by the sourcing operations in Asia). The incumbent also provides general legal support to the group M&A activities and other group strategic initiatives in Asia, as well as supporting the existing equity investments of WBA in China and the franchise business in Korea.  

Responsibilities & Specific Accountabilities include:

• Ensure WBA Asian sourcing operations is provided with adequate and appropriate legal support, whether through internal resources or using external advisors, where appropriate.
• Implement Group’s policies, with a focus on legal, regulatory/compliance and anti-bribery matters
• Providing legal support in diverse commercial legal issues, involving instant advice, or the preparation and negotiation of lengthy and complex contracts.
• Draft various legal documents which include NDAs, Supplier Agreements, Service Agreements, JV Contracts, Partnership Agreements, MOUs, LOIs, Distribution Agreements, board resolutions, legal letters 
• Provide on-the-spot advice, drafting, amending and negotiating legal documents, carry out due diligence and investigation, working closely with the relevant business people and attending meetings
• Assist the management of the relationship between local business and external legal advisors in a cost-effective and value-based manner
• Ensure understanding of and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements affecting the industry, and providing appropriate training to non-legal colleagues in the business
• Manage legal risk across the full breadth of the business to support and facilitate continued commercial success of the business
• Coordinate and interact with Legal, Compliance, Tax, Finance, Treasury and other departments under WBA Group

Key Position Requirements:

• University graduate with a professional legal qualification with 3+ years PQE (post Qualification experience)
• Preferably with in-house para legal experience in international sourcing operations 
• Combine high intellectual ability with a keen sense of commercial reality, dealing with and influencing people at all levels
• Ability to work with and resolve complex problems through the analysis of complex factual situations, data and the application of relevant legal principles
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, negotiation and drafting skills are essential
• Appetite constantly to learn, improve and develop
• Fluency in English (written and verbal) as well as Mandarin
• Occasional business travel as required
