This is a newly created role for a growing, globally operating, UK based material & equipment company. Reporting to the Supply Chain Operations Manager and dotted line to the Director of Asia Operations, the work location for this role is in Dongguan, China in which you will take responsibility for all sourcing related activities in China and South-East Asia; you lead all effort in finding new manufacturing partners, suppliers and processes as well as cost saving opportunities in materials.

Core tasks and responsibilities:

• Continuous involvement in identifying new suppliers with potential for business of capability growth
• Develops an accepted supply base that provides competitive advantages in quality, value/cost, delivery and technology
• Establishes a solid system for RFI, initial supplier assessment, RFQ and statement of work/business awarding
• Performs cost breakdowns and comparisons on new opportunities and identifies low risk suppliers related to the sourcing scope
  
• Focused on injection molding/flow molding reviews potential supplier’s core capability list and processes
  
• Performs initial price and contract term negotiations with suppliers and reports potential road-blocks
  
• Works with design, product development and materials development to ensure the integrity and clarity of engineering drawings and requirements and that all expectations are clearly communicated with potential suppliers
• Uses project management skills and tools to investigate alternate components, processes and technologies for reduced cost or improved quality and reliability
• Provides analysis of underperforming suppliers in existing supplier base and presents results and recommendations to the Sr. Management team in Asia

What we look in YOU:

• College degree, preferably in engineering or technical direction or higher
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably for a western company in China; Footwear industry experience is herein a big plus.
• Solid knowledge of PU, KPU, EVA, Elastomer materials and molding processes as well as working knowledge of foams and garments
• Presentable, practical, pro-active and resilient approach while willing to develop and work according fixed processes
• Solid knowledge of MS office
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills including an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese Mandarin
