Department of Music

The appointee will assist in implementing a number of projects, including (a) a teaching development project for Western music history, (b) a research project on cross-cultural (especially Chinese-Western) elements in contemporary music compositions, and (c) providing support for related pedagogy, publication, performance, and outreach. He/She is required to perform data collection and analysis, prepare proposals and related materials, translate/transcribe written and spoken sources into English and Chinese, arrange interviews, identify related repertoire and perform other duties as assigned.

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably a Master’s Degree in music and advanced reading/speaking ability in both Chinese (including Putonghua) and English. Prior undergraduate or postgraduate research experience will be an advantage. Good computer/web/graphic skills are highly desirable. Fresh graduates with good potential will be considered.

Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of one year commencing preferably on or before 15 January 2014. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
