Our client is  is seeking a motion graphics animator to work on a new publication that focuses on digital storytelling through social media platforms. The ideal candidate has a knack for typography, animation, memes, and GIFs, is someone with a strong aesthetic sense who can also take visual direction, and has a desire to experiment with platform-specific content.

Position: Motion Graphics Animator

• Collaborate with producers, graphic designers, and video editors to create animations for videos. Formats will include animated explainers, infographics, and field pieces
• Storyboard concepts for video animation
• Collaborate with producers and reporters to create charts, graphics, and GIFs to accompany articles
• Create animations for short videos strategized for publication on Instagram
• Create templates for the video team to use within their edits, including map animations, title cards, text templates, subtitles
• Provide creative direction for green screen shoots
• Develop brand identity and consistent visual language for publication

Animation and graphic style inspiration: Vaporwave, SuperDeluxe, Vox explainers, Anderson Paak’s Instagram

Job Requirements

• 2-3 years’ experience making animations and graphics using the Adobe Creative Suite. Must use AfterEffects, Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator
• Creative, artistic, collaborative, independent thinker,
• Avid consumer of video trends on Instagram, Youtube, Twitter, Reddit, etc.
• Love for creative text animation
• Excellent command of English. Familiarity with Traditional and Simplified Chinese Characters a bonus but not essential.
• Comfortable working with tight deadlines
• Branding experience helpful
• Proven track record, show reel a must
• Plus: have an interest in news, culture, and food and desire to pitch original content
• Extra plus: Illustration skills
