Job Description

Reporting to the Education and Outreach Manager, the position supports the implementation of educational and community-based programs and partnerships. It plays an active role in the development of programming initiatives to increase learning and access for people of all ages to orchestral music. The position embraces the goal of making classical music accessible to new and diverse audiences, and particularly to providing meaningful orchestral experiences to young people.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • To assist the Education and Outreach Manager in administrating the Orchestra’s education and community outreach programs, including orchestral and ensemble performances for school students, workshops, seminars and master classes;
  • To assist in the production of publications and content in connection with these projects;
  • To assist in developing links with the education community facilitating the planning and execution of the projects;
  • To manage and grow the Society’s “Young Audience Scheme”;
  • To produce content for Young Audience Scheme newsletters;
  • To be the emcee at some activities and / or concerts.

 

Attributes:

  • A university degree in music, arts administration and/or the humanities, with at least 2 years’ working experience in arts administration, or education/training;
  • A passion for arts education and the orchestral art form, with a thorough knowledge of classical music;
  • A pro-active, innovative and energetic approach to the running of a flourishing education program;
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English and Chinese, to include generating new content, proofreading and editing; and sensitivity in communicating with many different constituencies;
  • Strong project management skills, with attention to detail, accuracy and the ability to manage multiple priorities;
  • A desire to inspire children and to be inspired by them;
  • A highly motivated team player with excellent people skills;
  • Candidates with experience in organising and promoting education and outreach programs in the performing arts, and with existing relations with the education community will be preferred.
