Job Description

The Job:

 

  • Be category, brand and division representatives to the factories.  Communicate respective vision and strategy and guide new vendors to be successful within the 5.11 Tactical systems and standards.
  • Work closely with vendors and US Product Development teams to achieve sourcing and production requirements for in-line and SDG footwear; include coordinating activities in sample and product development, material sourcing, costing package coordination, preliminary screening, preparation of POs, order tracking, etc.
  • Monitor and communicate status of order activities, and work closely with factory personnel to track production progress and performance, identify issues, delays, rejects, and propose solutions to meet quantity, quality, product specifications and on-time-delivery requirements.
  • Coordinate and work with overseas buyers, vendors/factories and QC Dept. in daily communications.  Identify and address any potential problems or issues, and communicate all necessary information to the Management and internal stakeholders, including update of systems information as required. 
  • Maintain, build and develop strong relationship with material suppliers, vendors and factories.  Source new factories so as to expand factory base to meet business needs.
  • Take care of any testing requirements to ensure compliance with 5.11 and customers' requirements, e.g. CSA testing, EN testing, ASTM testing, etc.
  • Handle the production quality claim with vendors and come up with final resolution.
  • Assist with special projects and any price negotiations for potential programs
  • Prepare and update the PSR report on a regular basis.  Make appropriate recommendations on continuous process improvement.
  • Provide training and guidance to the Merchandiser(s), if applicable.
  • Perform any ad-hoc tasks/projects as assigned by the superior.

 

The Person:

 

  • University graduates with at least 8 years of relevant experience in the athletic/performance footwear industry.
  • Prior training/knowledge in footwear construction and product development is required.
  • Knowledge of US retail market and prior work experience in MNC preferred.
  • Experienced in the latest footwear trend, including materials, components, processes, concepts and manufacturing.
  • Good sourcing experience and supplier network in Footwear.
  • Good communication & interpersonal skills. A team player.
  • Detailed-oriented, good problem solving and decision making skills. Ability to work under high work pressure.
  • Ability to work with people of diverse cultural background.
  • Good command of spoken & written English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Chinese Word Processing, prior knowledge in ERP an advantage.
  • Ability to travel (up to 30%).
  • Immediate available is preferred.
