RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for researching new and existing materials and assessing their suitability for use
• Analyze and interrogate data to identify insights and opportunities to improve
• Source the optimal material and supplier per the request of the product line managers in the design brief each season
• Ensure the availability of materials, which support the strategic marketing & design direction to enable commercial success
• Develop and source new material concepts and samples based on direction from design and merchandising
• Find and develop the right materials according to calendar timelines, target prices, sourcing policy, and quality standards
• Meet calendar deadlines to ensure that material developments and production are delivered on time
• Have an understanding of material forecast for negotiations of pricing and be aware of fluctuations in yarn costs and exchange rates
• Evaluate partners with sourcing and operations team and research new partners for improved materials and pricing
• Ensure all new developments are commercially available for prototype garment making prior to sales sample production
• Understand apparel calendar and integrate key fabric deadlines to meet fabric buy cycles
• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with product line team, designers, fabric mills, quality assurance, and other related counterparts in order to ensure performance

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum 10 years' experience on experience in merchandise sourcing and development with at least 2 years in leading a team
• Tertiary education in related disciplines is preferred
• Good command of written and spoken English, Cantonese and Mandarin
• Literate in Microsoft office programs
