Job Description
Key responsibilities
The Merchandiser Manager will work within the Product Team to coordinate the purchase of furniture and home accessories. Such support requires purchasing goods and services both competitively and wisely to promote customer good will, profitability, and company growth. Managing a team of 3 (2 Merchandisers, 1 Junior Merchandiser)
To achieve Sales targets, by having the right product in the right place at the right time and stock cover to achieve both sales and efficient stock holding
Stock Management
- Managing the Core Inventory, replenishment, managing the stock cover, budget, out of stocks. In all BU’s (Hong Kong, Shanghai, Middle East – Retail & Corporate Sales Departments)
- Providing forecasts for suppliers and to manage future stock
- Work to the Critical path to ensure on time arrival of all items, for launch dates, sales, replenishment & samples
- Loading New items onto the system and place orders with suppliers including sample orders
- Provide Cover for Merchandising team when required
- Prepare all purchasing related documentation Incl. internal orders, commercial invoices, payment requisitions
- Assist the Merchandising Manager in inventory control. Manage inventory levels to maintain adequate but minimum inventories
- Identify ways of improving process, costs or communications
Range Build
- Know and understand the Indigo Product Range – knowing best sellers, overstocked/out of stock
- Work closely with the Buying team to build the Product Category
- Options plan for future seasons to achieve Sales target and stock cover targets
- Plan Mark down for Sales & discontinued stock
- Work within the OTB (Open to Buy Budget) for the Product Areas covered
Reporting
- Key reporting on Sales & Inventory throughout the season
- Stock Cover - Overstocked/ Understock / Aging Stock
Supplier Relationships
- Liaise with suppliers and freight forwarders to prepare shipping forecasts to shipping dept
- To plan and negotiate with suppliers the product production time in accordance of shipment dispatch schedules
- Coordinate purchasing documentation, invoices and payments with suppliers
- To maintain and keep all supplier details and files in a ordered and systematic system
Intercompany Communication
- Work Closely with the Shipping & accounts department – information to be handed over in an efficient and timely manner
- Communicate to the business delays & out of stocks/ high stock levels
- Keep the systems upto date with accurate information
- Ensure on time arrival of stock, to allow for VM store set up, Sales teams to fulfil customer orders on time
- To work closely with Sales depts. answering product related queries, to obtain goods information and current pricing
- Co-ordinate with QC on quality related matters to ensure the quality of the products meets with customers specifications.
Team Management
- Setting Team KPIs’s
- Managing teams work load and priorities
Requirement
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Merchandising/ Planning
- Experience of managing a team
- Good command of English & Cantonese in oral and written. Mandarin a plus
- Proficient in Excel & good computer skills
- Detail-minded, self-motivated, committed and a good team player
- Good communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Able to work under pressure
- Able to travel to Mainland China or overseas if necessary
