Job Description

The Identification Department at the GIA Hong Kong Laboratory invites applications for Gemologist Trainee positions. The laboratory seeks individuals to perform identification of various gem materials. The successful candidates will work closely with gemologists and scientists in other GIA laboratories as a team on the analysis, identification, and investigation of gem materials. They will be expected to operate varying advanced spectroscopy and chemical analysis equipment, and to interpret the analytical results independently. Contributions to research projects are also expected.

 

A degree of Master or Ph.D. in chemistry, physics, geology, gemology, materials science, or a related field is required. Fluent English in speaking, reading and writing is a must. Background in gemology is a plus.
