Arts with the Disabled Association Hong Kong (ADA) is a non-government organisation with the mission to promote equal opportunity to people with different abilities to have access to and excel in the arts; and advocates an inclusive society through the arts.  One of ADA’s major initiatives is to focus on providing accessible environment, both hardware and software, to ensure greater access to the arts to persons with different abilities.  The first-ever Arts Accessibility Service Centre has been established by ADA to provide consultations, trainings and arts accessibility services.  More information about ADA Arts Accessibility Service Centre is available from our website www.jcaasc.hk.

We invite candidate with high caliber to fill the following position:

Assistant Officer

(Arts Accessibility)

Duties:

• To coordinate and promote different programmes with arts accessibility services (i.e. audio description, theatrical interpretation, tangible reproduction etc. ;
• To ensure the smooth running of accessibility projects;
• To liaise with arts organization in providing arts accessibility service in various performances and exhibition;
• To liaise with NGOs in attending accessible performances or exhibition and stakeholder meetings, guided tour and other programmes;
• To assist the implementation of new projects and participate in the design process;
• To prepare paperwork regarding projects about physical access or arts accessibility;
• To assist the administrative work of the Centre.

Requirements:

• Degree, prefer in translation, social work or art admin, with one year working experience in NGO physical access and arts accessibility services;
• With knowledge of the UN Convention on the Rights for People with Disabilities, social services sector and / or arts and culture is a plus;
• Excellent communication skills in both English and Chinese;
• Well versed in computer literacy such as MS Office and Adobe applications;
• Proactive, independent and good team-player with strong sense of responsibility, high level of integrity and ethics;
• Overtime work on evenings, weekends and public holidays is required;
• Working location at Shek Kip Mei Office and other performance/ exhibition venues.
