The Role

• To structure credit solutions in response to a variety of individual and corporate client needs within the Private Bank environment and to take the lead on major credit transactions. The role is part of a the Lending and Deposits products team, that focuses, helps originate and structure, and execute financing, investment exposure solutions against collateral (Marketable Securities, Real Estate, Funds and Alternative Investments, Structured Products, FX and other derivatives) for large Wealth Management clients.

• To support the team to build the Lending business. This is a demanding role in which individual judgment is needed to assess the risk reward dynamics of credit extension. It requires the ability to work closely with Private Bankers, Clients as well as other product areas in order to meet both marketing and risk management goals.

• The scope is to primarily deal with both flow transactions and specific focus on cases that have an element of exception to credit policy, large exposures, concentrations, extended credits and require extensive analysis, require risk mitigating structuring (covenants, hedging etc).

• The position also involves participation in projects for new business initiatives and product development, projects to enhance the credit platform, add new products/solutions and develop the team. To be an ambassador to promote Lending as a product and take the primary ownership to build the business.

• Good understanding of credit process and policies, internal and external financial information systems, legal/regulatory is critical. Thorough knowledge of capital markets and derivatives products is very important.

• In summary this is a demanding role for which a strong mix of credit, analytical, process and people skills are crucial. It requires an ability to influence stakeholders, including customers, seniors of the bank, Risk, or other areas of the Bank, to deliver against budget and to ensure processes meet the Bank's highest standards.

Key Targets

The team is measured by the contributions to the growth of the loan book, and enhancing ROA of the firm.

Requirements

Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Legal degree or equivalent. A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience. Professional experience in a lending business (securities financing, corporate lending)

Any master programs in finance or accounting will be beneficial (or professional qualifications e.g. CPA, CFA, FRM etc). Fluency in Mandarin, Cantonese would be advantageous.
