Job description:

The Far East QA Manager, reporting to the General Manager (HK), is responsible for factory and product compliance to sustain a supplier base that meets Kinnerton’s requirements and to ensure that products sourced from the Far East is of high quality, legal and safe. As a deputy to the General Manager (HK), the QA manager will ensure the smooth running of the HK office and its functions.

There are two main functions required for this role: 1. Factory Compliance and 2. Product Compliance.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide quality assurance support on the production of packaging and hardware items including rigid paper boxes, ceramic mugs, plastic toys, tin containers, etc.
• On-line checks and final production inspections prior to shipment to ensure products are produced to specifications, legal and safe.
• Attend first production at new or high-risk supplier or for high risk products.
• Evaluate and risk-assess suppliers in terms of technical suitability and ethical issues to supply Kinnerton.
• Carry out on site capability audits and ethical audits such as SA8000 or SMETA audits and follow up with factories on improvements to build up and maintain a reliable and good quality supplier base for Kinnerton
• Set up supplier scorecard, review regularly, and make recommendations to the Procurement team of preferred suppliers.

Essential Requirements:

• Degree holder
• Fluent in Verbal Mandarin and in written English
• At least 8 years’ experience in this industry – gifting, toys, hardware.
• Ethical audit training
• At least 3 years’ experience in product inspection.
• At least 3 years’ experience in factory auditing
• Highly motivated in a small team
• Great communication skills with Chinese suppliers
• High mobility, able to travel frequently to China (At least 2 days in China most weeks)
• Highly organized
• Able to work independently
• Assertive
• Trustworthy

Desirable Requirements:

• Experience in food manufacturing especially in confectionery
• Experience in co-packing
• IT competent
• Accredited lead auditor
• Experience in the UK market trade
