Job Description
Office : Department of Accident & Emergency
Ruttonjee & Tang Shiu Kin Hospitals / Hong Kong East Cluster
Pay : HK$15,056 – HK$18,818 per month (see Remark 2)
Key Responsibilities
- Assist doctor to perform clinical procedures (e.g. closed reduction, apply plaster, bandaging, etc).
- Assist nurse to perform investigations, e.g. ECG, Visual acuity test, Intra-ocular pressure measurement, urine test, vital signs measurement, hemostix test, etc.
- Assist nurse to perform triage assessment at triage station.
- Perform after care of instrument and equipment including cleaning and disinfection of plaster and airway equipment, etc.
- Prepare patients for follow-up e.g. printing label, remove wound dressing.
- Handle patient / relatives enquiries.
- Provide health education / basic care to patient or relatives under the supervision of the nurse (e.g. Ice therapy to soft tissue injury, elevation of injured limbs etc).
- Provide follow-up and pre-discharge information to patient / relatives.
- Provide bedside care for patients including bed making, hygiene, feeding, mobilization, etc.
- Direct or transfer patients to X-ray, physiotherapy room, plaster room, ward, etc.
- Tidy-up environment and top up consumables.
- Assist on data entry of clinic statistic.
- Prepare follow up patient record and contact patient for changing appointment.
- Assist in consumable ordering and checking.
- Assist in checking inventory on equipment, instrument.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by supervisors.
Entry Requirements

(a) Completed F. 5 / S. 5 or equivalent; OR
(b) Completed F. 3 / S. 3 or equivalent with care-related experience; AND

Completion of structured departmental training (see Remarks 4); AND

Good command of English and Chinese, written and spoken.
Preferable Attributes/Exposure
-
Post secondary education or holder of diplomas/certificates in a relevant discipline.

Have good PC skills & knowledge in Power Point, Access and Word.

Possess recognized Health Care Assistant Training / Care-related Support Workers Certificate*.

Pleasant and mature personality, show interest working in hospital with patients and able to cope with emergency situations or patient complaints.

Working experience in hospital or other health care settings.

Possession of experience or training on performing POP for patients.

Remarks
- Appointment will be on contract terms for 1 - 3 years. 5% of total basic salary as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered upon completion of contract with satisfactory performance.
- Applicants who do not meet entry requirement (2), if find suitable, will be employed to undergo at least 6 months’ on the job training including the structured departmental training. During the training period, the staff will be appointed as Patient Care Assistant IIIA at a monthly salary of HK$12,590 to provide service and to receive the training. After the training period of at least 6 months and passing the end of training examination / assessment on skills and performance, the staff will be appointed as Patient Care Assistant II at a monthly salary of HK$15,056. Employment may be terminated if the selected applicant cannot pass the examination / assessment after training.
- Required to work shifts and irregular hours, during typhoons, rainstorms and other emergencies.
- Required to wear uniform, N-95 mask and other personal protective devices if needed.
- May be required to work in another work location to meet service needs of the HA.The renewal/extension of appointment will be subject to service needs and job performance.
