Job Description

Generation is an independent NGO founded by McKinsey & Company in 2015. We recruit, train and places students into careers. It provides young adults the opportunity to build successful careers and change their life trajectories. In Hong Kong, Generation has successfully launched the first training program in Customer Services. We will soon be launching a Digital Marketing program.

We are seeking a talented project-based Instructor to deliver our 10-week Digital Marketing training program (July-September 2018) that equips youth with the skills to enter junior Digital Marketing roles.

The Instructor will report to the Generation Hong Kong Chief Operating Officer (“COO”). Ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years of experience working in Digital Marketing roles. Cantonese is a must as the programme will be taught in local language, while experience and passion working with youth will be a definite plus. 

Responsibilities

  • Delivery of Skills-based Training (65%). Under the guidance of the Instructor Training and Quality Coordinator & COO:
  • Support the customisation of the Generation curriculum in Hong Kong
  • Prepare Generation lessons by creating annotated lesson plans and integrating stories, examples or classroom exercises to increase participant learning.
  • Deliver classes based on the overarching structure and flow of the Generation curriculum. This includes training on behavioral skills, mindsets, technical, and employment essentials.
  • Program Management (15%). Under the guidance of the COO:
  • Recruit targeted youth using Generation-specific promotional and communications strategies
  • Support employer outreach in order to build employer relationships and secure job interviews/vacancies for Generation graduates.
  • Screen candidates through interviews and prepare them to attend to the training.
  • Input data using Generation’s technology platform (e.g., participant attendance, assessment results, etc.).
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Management (10%)
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between Generation participants, the COO, Program Coordinator, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Instructor Training and Quality Coordinator to support program quality.
  • Participant Mentoring (10%)
  • Build relationships with participants, develop an understanding of their personal strengths and challenges, and foster a supportive classroom environment.
  • Mentor participants on a career in Digital Marketing; provide them guidance on their career prospects and pathway.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications Studies, Social Media or similar degree program (Or) similar educational attainment and work history.
  • At least 3-5 years experience working in the digital marketing and branding industry.
  • At least one year experience delivering training, coaching, or mentoring.

Good to have:

  • Experience working with young adults.
  • Previous experience in coaching, training or instructional delivery in the field of marketing or digital marketing.
  • Experience working in a fast paced, start-up environment.

  • Motivational Fit. Passion for helping change the life trajectories of unemployed youth.
  • Professionalism. This includes but not limited to adherence to a professional dress code, communications and engagement with supervisors, colleagues and students and pays close attention to detail.
  • Effective Communication. Excellent oral and written presentation skills in Cantonese – the language of instruction. Good communication skills in English
  • Data Management. The ability to collect and analyze training data as required by Generation Programs.
  • Interpersonal Skills 
  •    Strong cross-cultural skills that demonstrate the ability to engage well with participants. and the ability to be a team player.
