The Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for qualification, audit and quality performance improvement for Sig Sauer’s Electro-Optics suppliers.  These suppliers are located globally.  The successful applicant will be required to communicate effectively through all organizational levels at Sig Sauer and at suppliers.  Strengths will include analytical skills, root cause analysis and effectively monitor implemented corrective actions.  A successful track record of implementing Continuous Improvement tools is highly desirable. Experience working with international suppliers is a plus, with an emphasis on Asian based OEMs.  Familiarity with machining, optical-mechanical and electro-optical-mechanical assembly operations are all highly desirable.  Knowledge of sport optics such as riflescopes, red-dot sights, rangefinders, binoculars and laser systems is desirable.  Candidates must have the ability to perform visual and dimensional inspections, read and interpret drawings and GD&T. 

This position will be based in Asia (Japan, China, Taiwan or the Philippines) and will require 75% travel with bi-monthly trips to the US.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

•    Evaluate supplier capability and capacity to produce conforming components and Finished Goods.
•    Work with the supplier to establish inspection methods, test methods, Acceptance Criteria and Sampling plans. Investigate causes of nonconformance and analyze data, must have a thorough understanding of drawings, specifications, and standards.
•    Develop supplier score card system driving for continued quality improvements.
•    Deliver feedback to suppliers via scorecard system and be the champion resource for continuous improvement.
•    Responsible for driving the Corrective Action and Preventive Action (CAPA) process for all suppliers.
•    Audit supplier’s Quality Management Systems for compliance to component requirements, track results and maintain management reporting systems.
•    Audit supplier’s facility for compliance and requirements for production.
•    Evaluate and disposition components determined to be non-conforming, and drive suppliers to reduce non-conformance deliveries.
•    Dimensional verification of incoming inspection results.
•    Train suppliers to effectively execute Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR) and Corrective Actions Preventive Actions (CAPA), knowledge of FA, RTV, MRB and RMA processes.

Requirements

Qualifications:

•    Four (4) year BS Engineering Degree (prefer major in Industrial, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering) or equivalent work experience.
•    2+ Years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
•    Prior experience as a Quality Engineer, SQE or process engineer.
•    Previous experience in the optics/photonics industry a plus.
•    Experience in auditing manufacturing operations.
•    Demonstrated working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing. (GD&T).
•    Must possess excellent customer service, communication (oral and written), and time management skills.
•    Proficient in MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
•    Detailed oriented with creative problem solving skills and the ability to write detailed reports.
•    Familiarity with Oracle a plus.
•    Familiarity of ITAR, ATF, EAR a plus.
•    Strong project management skills and problem solving skills.
•    Advanced knowledge of Quality tools including, but not limited to SPC, SIX SIGMA, Lean and Continuous Improvement.
•    Past experience working with ISO 9001 and Quality Systems.
•    Mandarin Language proficiency a plus.
