Kinnerton Hong Kong Ltd is a subsidiary company of Kinnerton (Confectionery) Company Ltd which is a multi-million pound manufacturer of chocolate and confectionery in the UK.  Kinnerton uses character merchandising to promote the sale of our chocolate confectionery. We import characterized merchants from the Far East as part of our novelty gifting ranges.

As Kinnerton expands and business grows, an operation was established in Hong Kong in 2006 to serve our UK headquarter.  In the HK office, we manage the Far East suppliers from factory audits, product development, production, through to shipment.

Kinnerton Hong Kong Ltd is now recruiting a Hardware Technologist to join our small but dynamic HK team.

Job description:

The Hardware Technologist, reporting to the General Manager (HK), is responsible to ensure that products sourced in China meet legal testing requirements as well as customers quality expectations.

Key responsibilities:

• Product type: Toys, Packaging, Tins, Ceramics, Paper, etc

• Supporting the FE General Manager and QA Manager in factory approval, quality control and testing of all Far East Hardware components.

• Completion of Hardware specifications for all materials bought in China.

• Coordination and administration of testing for all Chinese hardware components to ensure they meet the EU and Australia markets.

• Preparation and management of Technical Files required by Toy safety Directive and/or specific customer requirements

• Issue of completed specifications and technical files to suppliers and customers.

• Monitoring and reporting of statutory or customer-specific information required to demonstrate compliance (e.g. recycling, WEEE).

• Safety assessment for all Toys covered by Toy Safety Directive EN71 (Parts 1,2 & 3), including implementation of REACH.

• Monitoring and reporting of material testing costs against agreed budgets.

• Liaison with suppliers in times of testing failure for improvement.

• Supporting the FE General Manager in supplier database maintenance and ensuring that audit corrective actions are completed in a timely manner.

• Assist in production inspection in China factories.

Essential Requirements:

• Diploma holder
• Fluent in Verbal Mandarin and in written English
• At least 3 years’ experience in hardware testing
• Highly motivated in a small team
• Great communication skills with Chinese suppliers
• Highly organized
• Able to work independently
• Trustworthy
• Required to travel to China seldomly

Desirable Requirements:

• Experience in China factory manufacturing
• Experience in auditing
• IT competent
• Experience in the EU market trade
