Job Description

Position Summary

In this role, you will be leading the team responsible for developing and delivering next generation portable medical-regulated electronic devices. This role combines the need for intensive understanding of: customer needs and preferences as relates to product functionality and aesthetics, intelligent design to manufacturing engineering, efficient high quality manufacturing techniques, and the ability to build strong internal and external cross-functional partnerships.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Define the product roadmap, lifecycle, and new opportunities in conjunction with partners in R&D, Operations, and Marketing.
  • Lead New Product Development (NPD) design, development, delivery, source code, and technical product documentation, quality assurance, and change management.
  • Employ leading design principles, ensuring solutions are designed for product performance, regulatory compliance, manufacturability, and reliability to exceed customer expectations.
  • Generate creative product performance attributes and patent opportunities and identify competitive advantages to further enhance product positioning.
  • Implement test-driven development processes, with a high degree of data analysis.
  • Translate design requirements into actionable tasks for internal and external teams.
  • Ensure that all quality standards are documented, communicated and adhered to throughout the sample approval and industrialization processes.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects with high level of detail; maintain effective communication with the Executive Team and functional leadership in all activities required to design, develop, and deliver the product successfully. 
  • Consistently balance aesthetic goals, product performance, quality standards, vendor capabilities, and cost control for all products developed.
  • Assist in technical copy creation for packaging, operating/instruction manuals and training/education materials.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college/university required, preferably in the Sciences or Engineering.
  • 15+ years of experience as a project and program engineering development manager in a multinational, fast moving, cross-functional consumer environment preferably within the portable medical-regulated electronic devices industry.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, quantitative analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated use of DMADV/IDOV, DFM, Poka Yoke, DOE, and DFMEA for NPD.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully leading NPD to completion.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Mandarin; fluency in Cantonese is helpful.

 

Preferred Skills & Experiences

  • Experience in medical, automotive or aerospace electronic device (highly regulated) environments in Product Development and one or more of the following functional areas: Production Engineering, Project Management, and/or Quality Assurance.
  • Demonstrated excellent downward, lateral, and upward communication skills (oral/presentation and written).
  • Demonstrated high degree of initiative and team management skills.
