Job Description

Applications are invited for the above vacancy in our Generation Business Group. Reporting to the Chemist I / Laboratory Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring Power Station water treatment and cycle chemistry processes, as well as providing chemical and construction material testing services in supporting the business needs of electricity power generation. Major duties include:

Power Station

  • Monitor and manage chemistry deviations which have long term adverse impact to boiler water and steam circuit
  • Support the daily operation in the Water Treatment Plant, Effluent Treatment Plant, Electro-chlorination Plant and Sewage Treatment Plant to meet regulatory discharge requirement
  • Co-ordinate Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) internal audit

 Generation Engineering Department

  • Conduct routine analyses and tests covering the full range of samples involved in electricity generation, including fuel & ash, water & gas, metals & oils, and construction materials
  • Explore, implement and perform new & advanced technologies/methodologies for extending testing items such as landfill gas and bio-diesel etc
  • Develop and validate testing method in accordance with HOKLAS requirements
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HOKLAS laboratory accreditation programs
  • Lead on-site chemical relevant tasks such as stator chemical clean, boiler chemical clean etc
  • Plan and organize workload to achieve our testing service commitment
  • Compile station-specific laboratory reports, procedures and safety rules
  • Assist in hazardous material management

 Requirements:

  • A recognized university degree in Chemistry / Chemical or Environmental Engineering or equivalent
  • At least 3 years’ relevant experience in the industry or commercial laboratories
  • Knowledge of laboratory quality assurance system
  • Ability to work independently to the HOKLAS accreditation standards
  • Good understanding of Safety, Health and Environmental regulations
  • Innovative, self-motivated, and able to work independently
  • Good communication, leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Candidate with good potentials for further development but with less qualification and / or experience may be appointed as Assistant Chemist

 

The appointee will be required to work either in the Power Stations or Generation Engineering Department located at Tuen Mun area.
