Job Description

Purpose of the Role

- To run a manufacturing operation in Dongguan to support a $100m business within 5 years.

- To develop the operational capability in China to enable Posh to deliver customer orders reliably on a 4 week leadtime throughout the Pan asian Region.

Specific responsibilities

  1. Ensure all product is consistently manufactured to company quality standards and that all operating procedures are complete, accurate and conform to ISO9002.
  2. Maintain an effective process for the manufacture of short lead customer orders.
  3. To plan and organise the material, people, process and facility across shifts to ensure that Posh meets it’s commitments to customers
  4. Ensure the compliance of the team with Company health, safety and environmental standards
  5. Maintain standards of housekeeping within the manufacturing facility which reflect the highest standards of professionalism.
  6. Learn and introduce Lean tools to ensure continuous improvement – leveraging where possible from experiences in Herman Miller manufacturing units. To continually improve the level of service through identifying issues, establishing root causes and putting in place process improvements
  7. Recruit local staff of the correct calibre. Ensure new team members are fully inducted and develop training plans for all staff. Coach and develop the skills, techniques and experience of all team members.
  8. Maintain employee motivation by communicating company performance and other issues through team meetings.
  9. Understand the commercial aspects relating to the Asian business and act as a member of the management team in implementing strategic plans and objectives for the function that will enable the business plan to be achieved.
  10. To achieve target levels demonstrated by data on the following key performance measures:

¨      Customer Orders delivered complete and on time

¨      Overdue Customer Orders

¨      Quality – Internal/External PPM, Cycle counting

¨      Costs – Productivity, Inventory

¨      Leadtime profile improvement

¨      Accident Rates

¨      Margin improvement

¨      Expense budget control

 

Resource management

Financial:

Raw material stocks

Material work in progress

Finished goods stocks

Labour and Expense budgets

Human:

Responsible for developing a team of approximately up to 1000 people, based in Dongguan. To attract the correct calibre of employee.



Contacts and relationships

Internal contacts:

Reports to the Posh Director and Herman Miller Operations Lead

Frequent contact with the Sales Teams in the Asian region

Frequent contact with the Posh Hong Kong Team, Herman Miller businesses and the Herman Miller Ningbo Facility for extensive leverage of resources and coordination of orders.

External contacts:

Customers in support of sales or service activity

Suppliers of material, equipment and services.

Shipping lines and freight forwarders across Asia.

 

Person profile

Education and experience

Essential:

Degree Level Qualification, preferably in a technical/engineering discipline

Minimum of 10 years management experience in a large manufacturing environment

Commited to and able to demonstrate being passionate about process improvement and delivery of excellent customer service

Able to communicate to a high level in written and spoken English, Cantonese and Mandarin

Preferable:

Experience of international operations

Experience of Lean Manufacturing

Experience in Steel fabrication
