JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary objective of this role is to drive the launch and ongoing management of a new offering, Mercer Fund Watch (MFW).  MFW is an issuer-paid model of distributing Mercer’s forward-looking research on investment strategies.  This individual will oversee all aspects of MFW, to include leveraging appropriate marketing, legal/compliance, research, and technology functions to support its distribution. The candidate’s primary role will be to build relationships with investment managers as prospective clients and with financial intermediaries and advisors as prospective users of this research.

The primary function of the role is to focus on the proposition and distribution efforts in Hong Kong and Singapore; however, Mercer is launching this offering in other countries as well.  While each of the other locations will have individuals leading local sales efforts in their own countries, we would like this candidate to serve as a Global Solution Leader for MFW, ensuring that consistency and best practices are carried out across the globe.

• Directly drive business development of MFW through:
• Building relationships with investment managers and engaging investment managers to commission their funds/strategies for rating.
• Building relationships with financial intermediaries and financial advisors in the market to drive their usage of MFW ratings (which in turn encourages investment managers to have their strategies rated).
• Maintaining the accuracy of opportunity data on our client relationship management database Salesforce
  
• Manage the MFW proposition in Hong Kong/Singapore and with oversight to other countries
• Work with Mercer’s global technology team to develop and maintain appropriate functionality to distribute MFW through an online web portal
• Work with Mercer’s marketing team to raise awareness and excitement about the offering
• Work with Mercer’s Global Manager Research team to ensure appropriate level of resources are made available to conduct the research and analysis on investment managers
• Work with the legal and compliance teams to establish appropriate contracting and oversight processes
• Maintain regular communication with local MFW leaders in other countries and ensure global standards and best practices are carried out consistently and effectively
• As business increases, manage the hiring process and people management of additional sales/solution leaders in Hong Kong/Singapore, with input into candidates hired in other countries
  

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Degree qualified in Finance, Business, Economics or other related discipline
• At least 10-15 years relevant industry and client-facing experience
• A sound understanding of Asia investment markets and the management of assets
• Good working knowledge of institutional investment client schemes
• Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to build effective and collaborative working relationships is required.
• Strong relationships within the Asia investment community and ability to further build these relationships
• Willingness to work within small team in a challenging environment
• An ability to shift through complex issues to identify and convey the key drivers
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills and appropriate attention to details
• Ability to make attractive presentation to prospects
• Self-motivation and a ‘can do’ attitude
• CFA charterholder or MBA preferred
