Our client is worldwide leading multinational e-commerce, retail, internet, AI and technology conglomerate.

Responsibilities:

• Advise on legal aspects of the Group’s international expansion of current and proposed new e-commerce offerings.
• Provide advice to business teams on legal aspects of the implementation of commercial agreements, business models and strategies, business operations, marketing activities, and product offerings.
• Research local laws and regulations in foreign jurisdictions and manage outside counsel.
• Provide advice on cross border logistics, import/export and payment acceptance models and issues.
• Negotiate, draft and review contracts and commercial agreements.
• Support commercial cooperation aspects of pending M&A matters as well as post-closing integration of acquired entities and businesses.

Requirements:

• Legal license from a relevant jurisdiction.
• 12+ years of post-qualification experience at a leading law firm and/or corporation. In-house experience is welcome, but not mandatory.
• Experience with e-commerce and/or cross border trade transactions (import/export, logistics, payments etc) preferred.
• English and Chinese language proficiency (i.e. ability to hold business meetings in Chinese, and reading and writing in Chinese).
• Experience in recruiting, mentoring and managing a legal team.
• Highly-motivated and able to work independently and under pressure.
• Sincere interest in technology, innovation and business. Strong commercial sense with solid foundation in legal training.
• High integrity and desire to collaborate with others.
