Responsibilities:

• Coordinate with customers to confirm product specifications, feasibility and technical enquiry of the design
• Coordinate with internal departments to achieve customer’s requests and all the technical issues including product mechanical design, testing protocol, jig and fixture build and tooling issues
• Develop the mechanical structure and part, prepare technical drawing, consider reliability, safety requirements, manufacturing process, functionality and unit cost to meet the product specification
• Making samples or working models
• Technical specification drafting and verification
• Build functional tester according to customer's testing requirements
• Provide technical support to purchasing department for alternative component selection
• Researching materials, processes or market requirements.
• Identify materials suitability
• Vendor selection of custom-made parts, reliability, safety requirements, manufacturing process, functionality and tooling cost to meet the product specifications
• Follow up pilot run and mass production in China factory or suppliers
• Arranging meetings and liaising with engineers and other departments to discuss and negotiate appropriate production processes, costs and commercial issues.
• Making presentations to senior management to present design proposals.

Requirements:

• Self-starter with passion for innovation, development of new, better products
• 10+ years of related experience in handheld instruments, consumer electronics, consumer goods
• Great sketching skill, conceptualization, ideation, strong problem solving ability, understanding of materials, human factors, and what it takes to make a product successful
• Ability to understand and develop innovative mechanical design solutions is an advantage.
• Proficient in SolidWorks, Adobe Creative Suite (AI, PS etc)
• Sound knowledge of product safety requirements and international standards
• Microsoft Office, Rhinoceros, ProE and other 3D CAD software are a plus.
• Familiarity with plastics, metal applications and tooling manufacturing processes.
• Experience working with Chinese manufacturers is a plus
• Good communication skills in English (written/spoken) is a must
• Ability to work under tight timeline and under pressure
• Frequent travel between HK and Shenzhen
