Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with business stakeholders, business analysts, solution and enterprise architects, and both internal and external development teams to define and deliver the required solutions
  • Ensure solutions and system designs align to agreed architecture and coding standards
  • Assess the impact of changes to existing applications and advise on best course of action
  • Interpret business and non-functional requirement and optimize solutions for sustainability and reuse, minimizing duplication of functionality across the OUP technology portfolio
  • Manage and maintain the overall design integrity of services and platforms
  • Producing full end to end system designs where appropriate
  • Work closely with the internal and external development teams building the solutions to align their outputs with requirements
  • Extend, maintain and promote reuse of common libraries and components
  • Stay aware of emerging technologies and market drivers in publishing sector

 

Job Requirements:

  • A university degree in computing based subject or equivalent discipline
  • A history of working as an application architect and/or lead developer. Previously held a position of either software developer (at a senior or lead level) or application/software architect will be an advantageous
  • Extensive experience of full stack software development (either coder or architect)
  • Experience of writing coding standards and ensuring they are adhered to
  • Experience of developing bespoke and SaaS solutions
  • Worked closely with mixed stakeholder groups up to board level
  • Working knowledge of at least some of the following languages: Java, Ruby on Rails, JavaScript (Angular, React), Python
  • Familiarity with agile and lean methodologies would be beneficial
  • Experience of full stack JavaScript would also be advantageous
