Safilo is looking for a mature Sourcing professional with experience in the Eyewear Industry to join the Purchasing team of Safilo Eyewear Industries Suzhou Ltd., one of the largest manufacturing plants of Safilo Group, based in Suzhou, Jiangsu, China.

The position will report directly to the Purchasing Manager and will manage a team of 3 Supplier Development Engineers.

Responsibilities:

• In cooperation with Technical Direction, carry out feasibility study on new components and raw materials, evaluating technical feasibility according to assigned volumes, schedule and costs;
• In cooperation with Purchase Department, define to which suppliers to allocate new components and raw materials upon evaluation of capacity, technical or volumes constraints;
• Plan the industrialization activities of raw material and components, verifying the work in progress according to assigned schedule;
• Control the activities related of new moulds or fixtures for the realization of samples, according to due timing and volumes;
• Check and certification of samples; inform Purchasing Manager about technical certification or possible project modification;
• Manage actions or interventions aimed at solving technical/ qualitative issues arising on components or raw materials and  verify the final result;
• Actively contribute to vendor evaluation process (from technical and quality point of view), through effective vendor evaluation schedule and structured follow up of vendors’ status;
• Contribute to selection of new suppliers through technical and manufacturing evaluation in cooperation with Purchasing, Purchasing Marketing and Quality Departments;
• Assist in the preparation and management of department budget;
• Actively engage in the hiring, training, evaluating, supervising and management of department personnel.

Requirements:

• Bachelor degree or above;
• Minimum 2 years’ technical sourcing or supply base management experience
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in the eyewear industry, solid process technical knowledge (components)
• Team management experience
• Excellent written and spoken Mandarin Chinese
• Excellent written and spoken English
