Job Description


  • Work with the category Sourcing Specialist to explore new sourcing opportunities in Japan/ Korea/ China and other potential vendors in Asia. 
  • Work with the category Sourcing Specialist to plan, collaborate and control all of the sourcing activities of assigned sourcing category, work with manager and all partners to execute.
  • Monitor workflow and coordinate vendor site visits for assigned category. 
  • Work with the category Sourcing Specialist to strategically source and follow program guidelines to meet established goals for assigned category. Follow through from placement to shipment. 
  • Conduct market research and coordinate all merchant visits at trade fairs, vendor visits and exhibitions for market sector. Understand and articulate the business. 
  • Source new vendors as needed, research and visit new and existing manufacturers, factories required.
  • Evaluate each source with the intent of building a long-term business relationship, while guiding them to meet the TJX fashion, quality and value requirements. 
  • Work closely with team, vendors and global partners on buying calendars, merchandise categories, and production schedules. Negotiate appropriately. 
  • Ensure inspection programs and all company compliance guidelines are followed with regard to sourcing

 Job Requirements:

  • University graduate with sourcing or related working experience in Japan or Korea with the language proficiency in Japanese or Korean.
  • Sourcing experience for beauty, personal care or related categories will be a plus.
  • Working experience in buying office, agent or well-known importer for U.S., Canada, or EU retail market is preferred.
  • Strong business acumen and entrepreneurial.
  • Passionate in products and knowledgeable in latest market trends.
  • Proactive, dynamic, flexible and creative in offering new products and business solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluent in conversation, written and comprehension of English and Chinese.
  • Able to work independently on own initiative, self-direct while at the same time be a team-player.
  • Able to develop and build relationships with teams, vendors and third party suppliers to achieve business goals.
  • Exceptional organization, problem solving, negotiation and time management skills.
  • Able to resolve issues in a thorough, streamlined and timely manner. Able to develop and recommend and implement solutions when necessary.
  • Able to prioritize, multitask various projects, attention to details.
  • Strong analytical and PC skills.
  • Willing and able to frequently travel in Asia and other parts of the world to explore sourcing opportunities.
