Financial Control Division - Insurance Business Finance Department

Hang Seng's Financial Control Division works closely with the Bank's stakeholders, including business partners, shareholders, regulators and external examiners.  We function as their accountants and business partners in providing comprehensive information on financial management, financial planning, financial reporting and compliance, capital planning and reporting, financial control & SOX control, tax advisory, insurance finance, and treasury and investment finance.

Insurance Business Finance Department (“ISF”) is a business finance function supporting HASE insurance activities and we are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our department as Insurance Finance Manager.

Principal responsibilities

• The incumbent will support HSIC Asset and Liability Management Committee (“ALCO”) and HASE ALCO in balance sheet oversight and control and capital management, with close co-operation with actuarial, investment and risk functions.
• The incumbent will assist to develop, implement, and execute asset & liability and capital management of HSIC and HASE  
• The incumbent will monitor solvency position and to identify and defines policies for insurance ALCO issues, primarily related to asset liability management, capital management and dividend policy.
• The incumbent will assist senior management to implement the HSIC’s and HASE’s objectives, execute new business initiatives related matters pertaining to the balance sheet (asset and liabilities), investment of insurance monies, earnings and capital to achieve objectives within prescribed risk parameters as appropriate.
• The incumbent will assist to perform liquidity reporting and support on stress tests reporting.
• The incumbent will assist to perform analytical review on financial results for each reporting period.
• The incumbent will provide support on ad hoc assignments as well as insurance finance project implementation.

Requirements

• University degree in Accounting or Actuarial Science, with a related recognized professional qualification
• Minimum 10 years' accounting / audit experience in sizable organizations, with exposure to insurance companies and with knowledge of insurance products.  Exposure to financial institutions or knowledge in actuarial principles is an advantage
• Independent, ability to work under pressure and in changing environment with strong communication, interpersonal and people managerial skills
• Strong business sense, coupled with good business partnering and ability to work collaboratively with different stakeholders
• Solid analytical skills complemented by astute financial and business acumen
• Sound knowledge of application software
• Proficiency in both English and Chinese
