Job Description

Financial Control – Insurance Business Finance Department

Hang Seng's Financial Control function works closely with the Bank's stakeholders, including business partners, shareholders, regulators and external examiners. We function as their accountants and business partners in providing comprehensive information on financial management, financial planning, financial reporting and compliance, capital planning and reporting, financial control & SOX control, tax advisory, insurance finance, and treasury and investment finance.

We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our department as Insurance Finance Manager.

 

Principal responsibilities

  • Responsible to support financial control processing for life insurance business within Insurance Business Finance Department
  • Execute appropriate reporting mechanism and control procedures to fulfill string regulatory/group reporting requirements as well as SOX requirement and ensure all reporting deadlines are met.
  • Follow the new statutory requirements and accounting standards and assist to assess the impact as well as driving the implementation of those changes.
  • Assist and support the management on projects and drive the implementation of new initiatives as assigned, providing technical support where necessary
  • Manage offshore team to ensure proper accounting records have been maintained and all reconciliations are up to date and long outstanding items are properly rectified.
  • Participate in system enhancement / development project, provide new products/business user requirements, review and comment on account mapping and related UAT result where necessary.
  • Support development of financial data processing and analysis, and driving process efficiency within Insurance Business Finance department;
  • Manage change, facilitate transition process, and evaluate any risk located with any implementation, communicate with related stakeholders (onshore and offshore teams) on change update and action;
  • Assist in coordinating internal and external audit, SOX, and internal control
  • Support ad hoc matters and administration task related to Insurance Business Finance Department.

 

Requirements

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline with a recognized professional accounting qualification
  • More than five years’ experience in accounting / auditing, with knowledge of insurance and financial products an advantage;
  • Ability to work independently under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Good communication, interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Sound knowledge of application software such as MS Excel and Powerpoint
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English and Chinese
  • Great sense of ownership and servicing mindset to ensure efficient and effective customer service processes

(Candidates with less experience will be considered for the position of Assistant Insurance Finance Manager.)
