Job Description

Monthly Salary Range:       

HK$35,345 - HK$53,395 (Grade of Senior Executive Officer)

HK$21,225 - HK$44,435 (Grade of Executive Officer)

 

Duties:The appointee will work in the Institute for China Business (“Institute”) of HKU SPACE. The appointee will supervise subordinates to manage proactively the accounting and finance functions in the Institute in order to ensure smooth operation of such functions in daily activities as well as to provide efficient and effective professional services to its centres, branches and subsidiaries in the Mainland. The appointee may be required to travel to Mainland China occasionally.  The main duties include but are not limited to the following:

 

To coordinate with School’s Finance Team and supervise Mainland China Finance teams of the Institute.

 To manage day-to-day routines, monthly/annual closing, quarterly forecasting and 3-year Financial Plan in a timely manner.

 To ensure accounting procedures comply with the School's policies and the relevant Hong Kong/ Mainland China regulations.

 To provide professional support in preparing financial and management information to the Institute including the subsidiaries and joint ventures in China.

 To co-ordinate with School’s Finance Team and take the initiative to enhance the workflow, process and financial system, budgetary control and the financial operations of the Institute.

 To prepare course budget proforma for China programmes in compliance with Quality Assurance requirements.

 To liaise with external auditors, government bodies and other professionals as required.

 To undertake any ad hoc tasks as assigned. 

 

Requirements: 

Candidates should be a qualified accountant with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related disciplines, and have a minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience with at least 4 years at supervisory level.  

 Proficient in accounting applications, with working knowledge of HKFRS, Mainland China tax/accounting and high literacy in MS Office suite.  

 Previous working experience in Mainland China and hands on experience in financial system (e.g. Kingdee, Oracle) is preferable. Experience in system migration will be an advantage.  

 Sound analytical, problem-solving, communication, interpersonal and leadership skills, good written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua), and the ability to work well under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks. 

 Meticulous and positive personal attitude. 

 

Candidates with less experience will be considered for the position of Executive Officer (College Finance).

 

Terms of Appointment:Salary placement will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  The contract will normally be for 2 years with the possibility of renewal subject to review.  A contract-end gratuity (taxable) will be payable upon satisfactory completion of the contract.  Medical and dental benefits, annual leave and the use of sports and library facilities will be provided where applicable.  The School also provides staff development opportunities.
