Job Description

CULTURE PROMOTION AND EVENTS OFFICE

Officer (Venue Operations) (Ref. 18072701-IE)

Duties

The appointee will be required to:

(a) assist in the operation and facilities management of the two multi-purpose venues of the University, the 1025-seat Jockey Club Auditorium, the 244-seat Chiang Chen Studio Theatre and other venues under the management of the Office, to ensure smooth running of all events in the venues;

(b) serve both internal and external venue users, including departments, students, government offices, art and cultural groups, non-profit making, charitable and commercial organizations;

(c) serve as duty manager of the Jockey Club Auditorium and Chiang Chen Studio Theatre;

(d) ensure all operation arrangements of the venues in good order according to all licence and statutory requirements;

(e) monitor the performance of contractors on venue guarding and cleaning services as well as repair and maintenance works;

(f) conduct training to student helpers in providing ushering and front-of-house services in a customer-oriented manner; and

(g) perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of the Office or his/her delegates.

He/She will be required to work on irregular hours and on Saturdays/Sundays/public holidays.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

(a)    a recognised degree/diploma/certificate plus not less than three years of relevant experience preferably in managing performing venues;

(b)    good command of English and Chinese, with proficiency in Putonghua being an advantage;

(c)    good communication and interpersonal skills, and be customer-oriented; and

(d)    good computer literacy.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement. Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
