Dear Sirs,

I am writing to apply for the role of Senior Consultant or Consulting Director with your firm. I would like to make it clear from the start although I’m grateful for the opportunities in my past that there some key items I need to understand before I consider joining your company. 

In my current role I have gained over 10 years of experience and corporate life demands working long days and yet management does not reflect this in my salary and most cases appreciation. They say, don’t worry we will make it right in the bonus. Hah, when I receive my year-end bonus it is still just a month or two, just like my colleagues who have not contributed as much as I have. 

I would also like to have my opinions heard. I’m most productive when allowed freedom to manage my work and, how hard it will impact on my destiny. Basically, I am looking to build my own business, but to do so I’m looking for my next move to provide solid support and reputable platform. In fact, as I start out I would appreciate some coaching and mentoring as I get to grips with the new business. I would like someone to provide support to fast track my performance from techniques and best practices in this business. Also support in how to talk with executives to convince them to trust me and let me work with them to help build their teams. 

They say, “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”. So, I want to make sure that the office has a really good vibe. Where as much as there is hard work there are also times with great joking. 

I am concerned about the reputation of the recruiting industry. I need to know that your firm will look after the candidates as much as they look after the clients. Last time I was looking for a job I never heard back from the agents. I see that as being part of the overall professionalism of who I am and how I want to work.

I am sick of the lack of job satisfaction as well as the limited salary package and perhaps a small increase once a year. I heard that as a search consultant how much I earn is linked to how smart I work, not necessarily the number of hours I work.
