OFFICE OF STUDENT AFFAIRS

The Office of Student Affairs invites applications for the post of Resident Community Officer in the Undergraduate Halls which has 1,770 places and provides comprehensive hall life programmes in the context of whole-person education to students.

Working closely with the respective Resident Master and under the leadership of the Assistant Director of Student Affairs, the Resident Community Officer is responsible for developing hall life education programmes in residence hall with about 400 residents. The appointee will supervise and develop a team of eight student tutors in managing the floors and facilitating floor and hall activities, and give advice to the student-run hall council as appropriate. In addition, the appointee will cooperate with the management in handling administrative duties such as room assignment, disciplinary and counselling of residents and assist in joint halls programmes.

Applicants should have a good first university degree with some work experience; genuine interest in student development; proficiency in both English and Chinese (including Putonghua); good computer skills; good communication and organisation skills; maturity and ability to work independently. Relevant training / experience will be an advantage.

The appointee will be required to live in the staff quarter of the Halls (1 bedroom apartment unit of approximately 38 square metres in size), work flexible hours and perform on-call duties.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
