Job Description

OVERVIEW:

The Senior Accountant will conduct decision-making activities and facilitate daily transactional accounting relative to the global business organization through performance of the following duties

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares and distributes financial statements prepared in conformity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Performs monthly general ledger closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, aging reconciliations, account reconciliations and analyses, measurement of performance vs. budget, and variance explanations relative to changes in revenues, expenses, and net assets
  • Conducts accounting consolidation of various global entities and ensures the integrity and reliability of financial reporting
  • Identifies and implements internal control procedures. Provides recommendations to improve internal control procedures and efficiency, evaluates policies in consideration of generally accepted accounting principles and best practices
  • Provides the information requested and preparation of schedules for the annual year end audit
  • Facilitates internal and external audit and tax compliance in accordance with statutory requirements; coordinates completion and accumulation of global audit results. Supports execution and sustainment of global tax initiatives
  • Liaises with interdepartmental and cross-functional personnel in the areas of Finance, Tax, Financial Planning & Analysis, Treasury, and Operations. Participates in the strategy, implementation, and maintenance of Tier 1 enterprise resource planning (ERP) and information management systems. Identifies technical problems and proposes resourceful solutions
  • Accommodates customary communication and meetings with global personnel. Trains, mentors and coaches accounting staff
  • Communicates effectively and persuasively with a positive and productive disposition
  • Fosters organizational mission and goals through results-oriented performance; enhances job knowledge via educational opportunities, personal networks, and professional development
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Recognized Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field, plus at least five years progressive accounting or auditing experience (or equivalent combination thereof).
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and customary business terms and practices is required. Acquaintance with global business customs and accounting principles preferred
  • Ability to professionally communicate and collaborate in a complex environment with a focus on customer service. Proficiency to conduct general ledger and monthly closing activities
  • Comprehension of intercompany invoicing/allocations, capital assets, foreign currency translation, and deferred revenue recognition
  • Competence to facilitate internal and external audit compliance and annual reporting requirements (financial statements, footnote disclosures, etc.). Acuity to internal controls and key business concepts
  • Discernment of project management, continuous improvement, and technical research principles, practices, and techniques preferred.
  • Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality
  • Extensive experience among Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.), Tier 1 enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, and other technical applications. Knowledge of PeopleSoft and/or Workday applications desired but not required
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • May include travel to respective global locations upon request
